RV Calling Cards

RV Calling Cards

When we went to our first Heartland RV rally in October 2011 we met so many fun and interesting people and naturally we wanted to keep in touch with them. Many of our new acquaintances were seasoned RVers who handed us their 'card'.

They didn't hand us their 'business card'. They handed us their 'calling card'. Maybe you're wondering what a 'calling card' is?

Calling cards (sometimes called visiting cards) of long ago were left at a person's home, and a visit to the home was not expected until after another calling card was left at the original givers home in response. If a calling card was not left in response or one was received in an envelope, a visit was not encouraged.

Some cards were more elaborate than others; they might have been embossed or they had some sort of design or maybe a coat of arms. However, most often, the cards were just plain with the caller's name printed on them.

Today's RV calling cards are different in that they usually have a person's contact information and are intended to help new acquaintances stay in touch…not just come over for a visit.

An RV calling card can be as simple or elaborate as its owner wants it to be. We have two cards – one is our personal card while the other is our Heartland Owners Club Chapter Leader Card.

On our personal card, we include our phone numbers, email addresses, blog information and our whimsical 'Two Peas in a Pod' design. We've been referring to ourselves as '2psnapod' since Michael's 2006/2007 deployment to Iraq. Some of our RVing friends have picked up on the nickname and often refer to us as 'The Ps'.

Our Chapter Leader card is a little more business-like as it has the Heartland logo on the front and a picture of our Landmark 5th wheel on the back plus our Heartland Owner's Club information. It also has our phone numbers, email addresses, and blog information.

You might wish to include more information or less than we have on our cards…that's all up to you. There are no requirements as to what information you include on your 'calling card'.

You can choose to create your own cards, order them online using a service such as Vista Print (that's where we got our personal cards done), or have them made at an office supply store. Another good source is Heartland Owner and West Texas Chapter Leader, Erika Dorsey.

Erika offers a card to Heartland Owners using a template that she has designed that includes the Heartland logo, your information, and, if you would like it, 2-sided so you can add a picture on the back – your picture, your rig, your favorite campsite…etc.

If you're a Heartland Owner's Club member and use the Heartland template you are eligible to purchase 250 2-sided cards for $25 if you mention "BLOG25", when contacting Erika.

If you're not a Heartland Owner (or choose to make a custom order) Erika can still work with you to create whatever kind of design you need. You will also use the "BLOG25" code but you will receive a 25% discount on custom design fees.

Erika's prices are very reasonable and her turn around times are exceptional. Get in contact with her and see what she can do for you.
