Campground Review: Capital City RV Park

Campground Review: Capital City RV Park

If you ever find yourself in central Alabama and need a place to stay…this is the place. There are a couple of other campgrounds in the area but, in our opinion, this is the nicest and safest.

Located on the northeast side of Montgomery, Capital City RV Park is very quiet and well maintained. The owners have rules and enforce them but that's part of the reason why the park is as nice as it is.

We lived at this park for the first 16 months of our full-timing adventure in our Landmark. Michael was still active duty Army, stationed just a few miles down the road, and this park was very convenient to his office.

The park has 88 pull through sites, all with water, electric and sewer. They also offer free internet but - as with most parks - it doesn't always work the best. Twenty-six of the sites are 'deluxe' sites, which are a bit bigger than the rest and also new since 2012.

Capitol City is a great place to stay while visiting the Montgomery area as there is quite a bit to see and do in the area. Visit Old Alabama Town, the Montgomery Zoo, or take in a minor league baseball game at the Montgomery Biscuits stadium. Of course, there is lots of shopping and dining opportunities in the area too!

Maxwell Air Force Base is nearby as is Gunter Annex, both of which have commissaries and other military opportunities. Maxwell AFB sponsors an air show every couple of years that is open to the public.
