Heartland RVs debuted the Landmark luxury fifth wheel 15 years ago. It was the brand that started it all. Back then, it's innovative features like the Universal Docking Center, massive, unobstructed pass-through storage, and a front cap with an 88 degree turning radius were game changers in the RV industry. For 2018, Heartland continues to innovate with the Landmark 365, the premiere full-time fifth wheel.
"We truly honed in on the bedroom for model change this year," says Andy Wesdorp, General Manager for Heartland RVs Landmark 365 and Road Warrior. "Since the dawn of the fifth wheel era, bedrooms have been the hardest part of a coach to navigate through. This year we added a standard power lift bed mechanism that adds nearly two feet of additional walk-around space at the foot of the bed. We complemented it with an industry-first backlit wave-pattern headboard and adjustable brushed nickel reading lights over the bed - all huge upgrades for model change."
"We have built another industry-first true walk-in closet into four of our six floorplans," Wesdorp continues. "This offers the most hanging storage, most shelving storage, and deepest shoebox storage ever built into a fifth wheel closet." Floorplans offering the spacious, new walk-in closets are the Newport, Arlington, and the new Phoenix and the 37'10" Louisville.
"We do our best to think like an RVer, so for this model year we focused on creature comforts," says Wesdorp. Heartland has added more USB ports and focused on making all the outlets more accessible. Rear overhead cabinets were lowered for easier access. A hardwood window sill was added with residential bottom trim in addition to mainstay privacy track side trim.
"We completely turned our furniture game inside out," Wesdorp says. "Now we have at least four reclining pieces in almost all floorplans, which is very unique on its own. The furniture all has heat, massage, backlighting, unique stitching that matches the slide out fascia, and the center section of the sofa flips down to reveal a workspace/cup holders/power center."
In keeping with the focus on creature comforts, a third AC unit is now standard on Landmark 365s. The power control center makes it possible to run all three air conditioners at once for 45,000 BTUs of cooling power. Additionally, Landmark 365s now come standard with MOR/ryde's Zero G entry steps which provide extremely stable entry and exit from the coach. The MOR/ryde step system also gives the exterior a sleeker look as the steps are stored inside the RV rather than in the frame like most entry stairs.
"Our design team amped up the exterior of Landmark this year," says Wesdorp. "We altered the logo to be more pronounced and unique."
"It is very important to our consumers that we recognize how important service and warranty is, as many of our owners are on the road constantly," Wesdorp says. "Landmark's warranty was one of the first to be full-time friendly, and after 15 years of luxury fifth wheel production, it still is." In continuing to stand behind its products and support its customers, Heartland has added a 3-Year Limited Structural Warranty on top of the 2-Year Warranty for Full Time RVing.
"None of this incredible model change happens without our dedicated Landmark team; this includes some of the best purchasing, engineering, sales and production professionals in the industry," says Wesdorp. "Plant 2 at Heartland has been THE standard for luxury fifth wheel production, and this is something we don't take lightly."
